This beautiful fawn-white goat which is different from the rest of the cattle because of his appearance and color has spent 147 days in a black Bakhtiari surrogate maother's womb. Iran's first still alive cloned lamb named Royana was born in Sep. 30 2006 after many successful experiences and researches in Royan Institute started by late founder Dr. Saeid Kazemi Ashtiani. The ultimate goal of these researches is to achieve the technology of producing recombinant drugs in Iran which can be carried out by following steps: 1.    Producing mamalian embryos using IVF techniques. Royan Institute has already produced different mamals including cow sheep and goat by this technique. 2.    Producing cloned embryos by nuclear transfer from a somatic cell to an oocyte and transfering into the reciepant uterus. Royan Institute produced the first cloned Cow (not alive) Sheep and goat. 3.    Production of transgenic Cell lines containing tPA by cuting tPA gene from the human genome and inserting it into the receipant genome. After the cloning procedure a transgenic animal is born which is able to secret tPA in it’s milk. Production of transgenic animals was based on bovine species and achieved a lot of  success but due to some problems such as the long period of pregnancy in cows the project was later changed and followed in ovine species. Only a few countries such as the US Uk Canada and China have a cloned goat in their list of achievements. Royan Institute is hoping  to be one of these countries in a short time to be able to produce recombinant drugs.
