accredited as a scientific and research journal by HBI (Health and Biomedical

 Information) Journal Accreditation Commission in 2000.

1. Types of articles

The articles published in Yakhteh Medical Journal (The Cell) fall into the following columns:

A- Original articles are scientific reports of the original research studies. The article consists of Abstract (English & Persian), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, acknowledgements and References.

B- Review articles are the articles by well experienced authors and those who have Excellencies in the related fields. These are usually solicited by the editors, but we will consider unsolicited materials too. They will undergo editorial process except solicited articles. The corresponding author of the review article must be one of the authors of at least three articles appearing in the references.

C- Case reports are published only if the report is of exceptional interest.

D- Short Communications are the articles containing new findings. Submissions should be brief reports of ongoing research.

E - Letters to Editor are comments from our readers on recently published articles.

F -Images in Biology should focus around a single case with an interesting illustration such as a photograph, histological specimen or investigation. Color images are welcomed. The text should be brief, and have a teaching point.

2. Submission Process

A. Cover letter: Each article should be accompanied by a cover letter, signed and dated by corresponding author specifying the following statement: “The manuscript has been seen and approved by all authors and is not under active consideration for publication, has not been accepted for publication, nor has it been published, in full or part (except in abstract form). I hereby assign all copyright in the enclosed manuscript to Yakhteh Medical Journal”. Corresponding author can also propose three peer reviewers in the field of their article.

B. Copyright: All listed authors must sign the “copyright transfer agreement”. In doing so, each author takes public responsibility for the article's content. No article will be published without a copyright transfer agreement signed by all the listed authors.

C. Manuscript preparation: Manuscript should be prepared in accordance with the "Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals".  Manuscript must be typed in a font size of at least 12 points, double spaced with margins of at least 2.5 cm (1 inch). Each of the following manuscript components should begin on a new page in the following sequence:

Page1: Title page; providing the full title of the research, full name(s) of author(s), highest awarded academic degree, institutional affiliation(s), full postal addresses, telephone, fax and e-mail of corresponding author both in Persian and English.

Page 2: Running title; a maximum of 5 words (40 spaces and letters).

Page 3: Abstract and keywords. Abstracts (both in Persian and English) should be followed by the title (no author^, s name) in structural format of not more than 250 words and should state the Introduction, Material & Methods, Results and Conclusion .

Keywords: Up to five key words must be supplied by the authors at the foot of the abstract chosen from the Medical Subject Heading (MeSH). The keywords, together with author^’s name are used for online searches. They should therefore be specific and relevant to the paper.                

The following components should be identified after the abstract:

Sufficient details to enable experiments to be repeated, including source, company names and addresses, must be supplied. Note the requirement for ethical approval from all studies involving humans and animals. Procedures and types of study and analyses must be clearly specified.

Results

Discussion

Conclusion

Acknowledgements: This optional part should include a statement thanking those who assisted substantially with work relevant to the study. A permission letter may be needed from those who have been acknowledged. Grant support should be included in this section.

Conflict of Interest: All conflict of interest (financial or otherwise) and all sources of financial support must be listed on the title page. These include providers of supplies and services from a commercial organization. All commercial affiliations must be disclosed, regardless of whether they provide the funding.

References: The references must be written based on the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals, the Vancouver style. Thus the references are cited numerically in the text and listed in the bibliography by the order of their appearance. The Uniform Requirements style is based largely on an ANSI standard style adapted by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) for its databases;http://www.icmje.org. For example, to state a book, the arrangement of information must be based on the following order:

Author's name, Title of the book, Place of the publication, Publisher, Date of publication

Tables and Legends: Tables should be on separate sheets. All tables should be keyed into the text. A short descriptive heading should be given above each table and any footnotes and explanations underneath.

Figures: Figures must be numbered and keyed into the text. They must be sent in TIFF or JPG format with 300 dpi resolutions.

Abbreviations should be defined where first mentioned in the text. Please use the international and standard abbreviations and symbols .Standard units of measurements and chemical symbols of elements need not be defined.

D. Proofs: Authors are sent page proofs for checking the production editor after acceptance of the article. Proofs are sent by e-mail as PDF files and should be checked and returned within 48 hours of receipt. It is the authors' responsibility to check that all the text and data as contained in the page proofs are correct and suitable for publication. We request that authors pay particular attention to author names and affiliations as it is essential that these details are accurate when the article is published.

3. General information:

A-It is recommended to supply us with your article on the compact disk (CD). You can send your article by e-mail to yakhteh@royaninstitute.org or online submission which is available at this website: www.yakhteh.ir. If the article is not prepared according to the format of Yakhteh Medical Journal, it will be rejected. Please send us one copy of typed and three Xeroxed copies of your article.

B-The order of article appearance in the Journal is not concerning the scientific characters of the authors.

C- Yakhteh Medical Journal has authority to accept or reject the articles.

D- The received articles will be submitted to at least 5 reviewers. If three reviewers pass their judgments on the article, it will be presented to the Editorial Board of Yakhteh Medical Journal. If Editorial Board have a positive judgment about the article, reviewers^, comments will be presented to the corresponding author (the identification of the reviewers will not be revealed). The journal will contact the corresponding author directly within 7-8 weeks. If authors do not hear from journal office after the time specified, please fax or email to journal^'s office. Executive manager will respond promptly to authors^’ message.

E-The authors of the articles may publish their articles in other journals provided only with the permission of the Editor-in-Chief.

F-Three reprints of the article will be supplied for the corresponding author free of charge.
